Education
Education is a field in which building operators have a strong duty of care towards the people who use their facilities, particularly children and young adults.
Maintaining good fire safety and air quality is an important responsibility for schools, colleges and other educational facilities.
Key Areas of Concern
Two areas require particular attention:
-
Kitchen extraction and grease management
-
Ventilation system hygiene
With many schools and colleges operating independently from Local Education Authorities, facilities and business managers are facing increasing administrative and regulatory demands.
Our approach is to provide practical advice and specialist support, helping educational facilities manage these requirements while reducing the need to coordinate multiple contractors.
Your legal Responsibility
As an Education establishment, it is your responsibility to ensure that kitchen grease extract systems (canopies, filters, ductwork, risers and fans) are cleaned regularly to prevent fires in accordance with Fire Safety Regulations and Workplace (Health, Safety & Welfare) regulations. The specification TR19® Grease provides guidance for controlling fire risk in kitchen extract systems.
